Update: Communist Ranger and West Pointer receives an Other Than Honorable discharge

Last September, a West Point cadet’s pictures of himself at his graduation ceremony flaunting his devotion to communism made national headlines and sparked fury from current and former soldiers. Spenser Rapone posted pictures on social media in which he was wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt under his uniform and wrote “communism will win” under his cap. This was […]

Memorial Day: It’s okay to have a barbecue

In recent years, a series of cringe worthy posts inevitably find their way on to social media that lambaste veterans and chastise civilians about what the appropriate way is to observe Memorial Day. Rather than enjoy a long weekend and some time with our families, we are now expected to be sad and solemn as […]

The Niger Ambush After Action Review: What Really Happened?

Veterans are not as sacred as Americans try to pretend they are, not even war heroes

Many were shocked and caught off guard the other day when retired General Thomas McInerney went on Fox News (where he is a paid contributor) and claimed that Senator John McCain betrayed his country while being tortured by Vietnamese communist forces during the war. He referred to McCain as Songbird John. I was not amongst […]

The lingering question: Where is Bin Laden’s body?

In response to the recent allegations made by three Navy SEAL whistleblowers to CBS News and information provided to SOFREP by our own sources, many readers chimed in to opine […]

Reality check: pump your brakes on the Korea peace celebration

It all happened in just a few moments when North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong Un walked towards South Korea’s President, Moon Jae-in, at Panmunjom and shook hands.  Kim then stepped over the demarcation line between North and South Korea and continued to shake hands with Moon.  In a surreal moment, Kim than invited Moon to […]

Black helicopters over Manhattan for JSOC training exercise

The night of April 17th, New Yorkers were rattled by the sound and sight of low flying helicopters buzzing around southern Manhattan. In this case, there was nothing to be alarmed about; New York City had announced that the flights would occur and the gents flying the helicopters are the best in the world: The […]

The Philippines stands up a true Special Operations Command for the first time

Last year, SOFREP paid a visit to the Philippine Special Operations Command located at Fort Magsaysay to conduct interviews with Scout-Rangers and Special Forces soldiers.  The third unit present was the Light Reaction Regiment, a unit that tries to fly under the radar, their actions often attributed to other units in the press.  These gentlemen […]
