I was a target of Russian propaganda long before the 2016 election

I’ve been sitting on this one for years now because I did not want to be a vehicle for Russian propaganda.  You often hear about how you have to be careful what you eat; be careful what you put in your body.  Eating fatty foods, using drugs, drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes can all be […]

Murder or accident? SEAL Team 6 operators kill a Green Beret in Mali

It was 2009 in Iraq when one of my teammates decided to initiate an impromptu combatives match with half of a SEAL platoon, never a great idea under any circumstances.  He was the senior Special Forces medic on our team and we had been doing some joint operations with a SEAL platoon in Mosul.  Now […]

1st Special Forces Command Sergeant Major removed amid sexting scandal

Command Sergeant Major Brian Rarey has been removed from his position as the 1st Special Forces Command CSM as of today, his name disappearing from the unit’s official table of organization chart on their website.  1st Special Forces Command is the umbrella organization under which the entire U.S. Special Forces operates, including 1st, 3rd, 5th, […]

A new clue helps us understand the West’s ‘stay-behind’ networks in Europe

The 1980’s witnessed the twilight years of the Cold War.  Beneath the surface, centers of power were being consolidated, strange bed fellows met in secret, and intelligence officers dug in their heels following a type of sunk cost fallacy which would lead them to believe that the Cold War would continue forever.  One of the […]

Drew Murray, ‘The Chive,’ and why people hate the media

At the moment, the American media is enjoying an unprecedented level of unpopularity with terms such as fake news, liberal agenda, and biased media thrown around almost reflexively.  Of course, none of this is new and the media has long been in need of some internal soul-searching.  It’s sad that this did not even begin […]

An ambush in Niger

When many Americans woke up one morning in October to discover that two US Special Forces soldiers and one support soldier were killed in an ambush in Niger, they were incredulous.  Why are American troops in Niger?  How is Niger important to the United States strategically?  How could our highly trained Special Forces soldiers be […]

God returns to writing ‘The Punisher’

Many writers have taken up the pen to detail the dark vigilante missions of Vietnam-veteran turned murder machine Frank Castle.  Some of those writers were pretty good.  Most of them sucked.  The best of them was living legend and modern-day god, Garth Ennis. The Irish-born writer always had the strongest grasp on who the Punisher […]

Extortion 17 SEALs had been sheep dipped into CIA’s Omega Teams

With the release of “The Final Mission of Extortion 17” by Ed Darack, new information is brought to light about one of the most deadly days for coalition troops in the War on Terror.  Darack’s work goes in-depth on the subject, probing the technical details of military rotary wing aviation, accidents, and shoot downs overseas. […]

The calls are coming from inside the house: America’s communist insider threat

In recent months, the US news media has been abuzz with more reports about Russian espionage and disinformation tactics than at any other period in recent memory.  At times, watching cable news networks almost sounds like we are back in the 1960’s at the height of the Cold War.  Much of this is a reaction […]

The one thing I agree with Hillary on

As disagreeable as Hillary Clinton is, I’ve recently found something that I actually agree with her about. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Clinton and Trump attended the “Commanders-in-Chief” forum hosted by NBC at the Intrepid museum in New York City.  It was billed as an event in which military veterans would have an opportunity to […]
