Op-Ed: Alt-Qaeda gets a Simon and Schuster book deal

Not content with the dumpster fire of a book deal recently cancelled with Milo Yiannopoulos, Simon and Schuster has signed a book deal for Bana Alabed’s story.  Presumably, the book deal is with her English speaking parents as the seven-year-old girl who became the public face of the Syrian civil war could not enter into a […]

Wild West culture of drug use on operations permeates SEAL Teams

Sources within the Special Operations community have described a situation to SOFREP in which SEAL Team Six operators are routinely high on drugs while conducting highly dangerous direct action missions while deployed abroad.  Operators are known to abuse methamphetamine and other uppers on a regular basis during combat operations.  The use of cocaine and methamphetamine is […]

That ‘crazy fat kid’ in North Korea is at it again

The “crazy fat kid” as Senator John McCain calls him is at it again in North Korea.  The escalation in tensions on the Korean Peninsula comes right on the heels of the annual Foal Eagle exercise.  The exercise has been held once a year since the 1960’s and in part involves US and South Korean Special […]

Kush goes to war

America never hesitates to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, often posting political campaigners to important positions in government rather than actual subject matter experts.  For instance, Ben Rhodes was nothing more than a failed novelist, speech writer and campaigner for President Obama, but none the less became a national security advisor.  Contrary to […]

Are fMRI machines the CIA’s unbeatable lie detector?

Everyone knows about the polygraph. Funny enough, it was invented by William Moulton Marston who was also the mind that came up with the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. Now you know why she carries her “lasso of truth”! But familiarity with the polygraph also means that plenty of people know how to defeat or […]

Trump counters sarin gas with Tomahawk cruise missiles

59 American cruise missiles rained down on Syria yesterday as punishment for the Assad regime allegedly deploying chemical weapons against civilians in Idlib.  The chemical weapon used was most likely sarin gas, a nasty type of nerve agent that causes respiratory failure.  Images from Syria showed dead women and children, limp and lifeless as if someone […]

North Korea’s ghosts in Africa

While doing some research on North Korea, I came across an interesting article about how North Korean military advisors to Uganda partly inspired a bizarre cult-like guerrilla group called the Holy Spirit Movement.  This movement later played into the formation of Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army.  Also during the 1980’s, it is interesting to note […]

American train, advise, assist program helped Russians win the war

As typical of Russian propaganda and so-called “fake news” we are told by state-sponsored active measures efforts like Russia Today that everything America does is imperialist, neo-colonialist, and needlessly provocative.  Watching RT is like listening to Noam Chomsky or Howard Zinn get up to the podium at some lefty university event wearing a sweater with […]

CIA Ground Branch Loadout

I recently came across the above picture which is reputed to be a CIA Ground Branch contractor’s kit that he takes out on operations.  On first glance, the picture is probably a few years old considering some of the kit, but it looks pretty legit. The desert tiger stripe uniform is one of the first giveaways […]

The indestructible Toyota Hi-Lux is finally coming to America

As a young man in the US Army the first vehicle I went looking to buy was a Toyota Hi-Lux.  Just as many soldiers are likely to buy a AR-15 rifle patterned off of the M16 or M4 that they use in the service, the Hi-Lux is a mid-sized pickup truck that punches way above […]

One weird dude: the implosion of former CIA analyst Larry Johnson

Larry Johnson came onto my radar a few years back when I penned a book about Benghazi with Brandon Webb.  We were the first ones to really tell the story behind what happened that night in Libya, and it certainly caused a bit of a dust-up.  Larry Johnson took to his website and described us […]
